Can any of you deny the fact that :-) had become a part of the email/chat room emoticons? Nay.. A gist on its history here...
Carnegie Mellon's prof Scott E Fahlman is the founder of this emoticon. He was the first one to use the three keystrokes a colon, a dash and a bracket.
Most of us know that this symbolises a smiley face. Basically these emoticons act as a channel for emoting oneself when you don't have the voice.
Almost in all the mails I use this one. Even my blogs have them.
To mark the silver jubilee of :-), am ending this blog with a series of .....

Very informative. Though I use it more often, I have never thot of its origin. Good research. :-))))))
