Mr. Inspirer!

Junk the job, idlis are tastier - IIM grad shuns rat race, follows in mother's footsteps - There was a headline in 'The Telegraph' during April 2006. Got a forwarded email from a friend few days back about this Entrepreneur, the Inspirer...

His story is an inspiration for millions. A self-made entrepreneur, his mission is to help the poor through job creation. E Sarathbabu hit the headlines after he rejected several high profile job offers from various MNCs after he passed out of IIM, Ahmadabad two years ago.

He instead started a catering business of his own, inspired by his mother who once sold idlis on the pavements of Chennai, worked as an ayah in an Anganvadi to educate him and his siblings. As a child, he also sold idlis in the slum where he lived. "We talk about India shining and India growing, but we should ensure that people do not die of hunger. We can be a developed country but we should not leave the poor people behind. I am worried for them because I know what hunger is and I still remember the days I was hungry," says Sarathbabu.

In August 2006, Sarathbabu's entrepreneurial dream came true with Foodking. He had no personal ambition but wanted to buy a house and a car for his mother. He has bought a car but is yet to buy a house for his mother. The "foodking" still lives in the same hut in Madipakkam in Chennai. Today, Foodking has six units and 200 employees, and the turnover of the company is Rs.32 lakh a month. But it has not been a bed of roses for Sarathbabu. After struggling and making losses in the first year, he managed a turnaround in 2007.

EQ-????

My excitement quotient has been degrading day by day. I used to get excited for anything and everything but it's not the same nowadays. Be it an achievement or a loss, it stays only for few hours in my heart nowadays. I wish not to lose my EQ anytime. I am asking to myself - Is it because that I have become so matured or is it the other way that I have become so dumb or is it bcoz there is noone to motivate me when I need??? :(( GOK...But, my intuition says my EQ will be back up soon. Wish it would, sooner!

Wat tummy wants???

Everyday when it comes to cooking part, there will be a serious discussion between me and my rommie on what to cook. Whenever we come up with some idea on what we can cook that day, the next line would be - "Hmm...Last Friday dhaane adhu saaptom...", "Two dayskku munnadi dhaane idhu saaptom"...Actually, thinking on what to cook is a complex job than cooking itself. Sometimes, I used to think how paatis' and ammas' never showed its complexity and always treated the children with what they liked to eat. When I am writing about this now, I realised that it's cooking time for me. Please don't ask me what I am going to cook...I don't know yet...But another serious discussion is on the cards now which will last for about 15-20 mins...On what??? Wat else??? On what to cook now??? :)

IPL stats & thots...

Although I am a great cricket fanatic, I did not watch any of the on-going IPL matches live. But I do follow whatsoever is happening with these matches. When IPL started, I was having a conversation with my friend and I told that I wish Kolkata Knight Riders win because I have lot of trust in Ganguly's captaincy. Slowly, when KKR started losing matches and I did see Dhoni's and Gony's flamboyance in match winning, I tilted towards Chennai Super Kings. Then, I liked the spirit of Delhi Daredevils but stopped inclining to particular team by seeing just a day's performance. I was totally surprised to see Chargers not winning as expected by most of the people. Out of all the teams, the chargers batting line up is the robust. Also, my favourite VVSL is leading the team :)( I was just going through the statistics and was surprised again to see the not so well-known team of Rajasthan Royals topping the charts. Out of the 26 in the RR squad, I just knew 9 of them (Huh..my cricketing knowledge is getting poor)and most of the players are young and new to this cricketing world. But Royals have been rocking so far..Most of us will be excited if this young group wins the cup...But anything can happen in cricket...Noone knows! But for now, I am excited because I can see these matches live when I am in India. Looking forward to it....:);)

There is a plethora of songs that I like and this is one such song that falls under this category. Although the lyricist's job is to give the finest lyrics for a song to suit the cinematic situation, not most of them do a decent job. But here is one such song that has been written, tuned and rendered well...The lyrics is simply amazing! But I have never seen anyone singing this in music shows...Why not??
