T'R'ibute

It's a long overdue post that I wanted to write about this couple which in a way has led me to write more here. It's not only about that couple but the ones that I like or maybe we can call that I am a fan of these 'R's. Let's check it out (Do I sound like a TV anchor? ;))

1. Ross, Rachel n Relationship: Being an avid F.R.I.E.N.D.S fan and Ross's, I couldn't stop praising this lovely relationship that shaped itself in all the episodes. They say that hate each other, date others around but finally reaching each other and unable to give up their relationship, the emotions that behold, the way Ross reacts and tries to stop her from boarding a flight, when Ross tries to date Charlie and how Rachel feels about it...I simply love to see them in action and in their emotional bonding.
2. Rehman: It looks like I have been writing more about ARR nowadays...maybe golden globe and oscar nomination hit me badly :) If I had to list out the songs that I like from his creation and innovation, my hands will go feeble....But a song from his voice which can bring tears to many and a feeling to most of us is my top pick - Vellai Pookal. Everyone who loves music (who doesn't?) will have one particular song for which they say that they can just die by listening to it. To me, it's this particular song from Kannathil Muthamittal. I wish I could get a chance to see one of his live concerts in my lifetime.
3. Robin Sharma: I love reading his books. 'The Greatness Guide' is one that I can read anytime. The thoughts that are endorsed in his book with practical examples is simply amazing. This motivational guru's next creation - I am waiting for it!
4. Renu: Not a known celebrity; Unless you watch Vijay TV's Airtel Super Singer 2008, you wouldn't know her. People talk about gifted voice, but if it's a truth that I can see it, that belongs to this girl. The breath control, the sustenance, the diction, the wholesome voice, the emotion...wat else is needed to listen to? She can mesmerize anyone by her voice :) And another gift that she has, being humble. I wish she reaches the finals and become the lady voice of the year!

In an alien planet???

Neither the stargate nor the startrek stuff here. Be it economy, upcoming movie...it's about the predictions that people put forth on a wholesome living that's happening from Mesozoic era to the Cretacious era. I hate predictions but fortunately or unfortunately, I am hearing a lot about myself and my future being predicted. Sometimes it's hilarious, sometimes it's headache, sometimes it's interesting, sometimes it's 'Ayyo, aala vidungada sami' and most of the times it's annoying. Top 10 common predictions and its causal effect here: Oru karpanaine vachukalam...You and your parents in the 'predictor's' office (veedu):

1. If you are in mid 20's, 'Aval(n)ukku Vyazhan nokku vandhiduthu, varan paakrela? ;)' ==> Nimmadhi pari poga podhuda
2. If you are in early 20's, Unga pulla kandippa higher studies pannuvan(l) ==> Irukra arrears-a eppo mudippanu first sollunga...
3. If you are in early 20's, Unga pullaikku ippo vela kedaikadhu...Junekku mela dhaan ==> Junekku mela evlo varushangal irukudhu...Eppayo kedaikkumngradhu engalukke theriyum
4. If you are already married and without a kid, 'Avaalukku kandippa puthira bakyam undu...2010la dhaan' ==> If it does not happen in 2010, we will hand over you to Vandaloor Zoo keepers to put you in a cage to amuse other kids (Anniyan style)...Will that be fine? murmurs follow...
5. Avangalukku panam avlo kaila nikkadhu ==> Yaarukume dhaan...Ellarum pettila dhaane vaikra. Iva mattum exceptiona? ;)
6. (S)He'll have Azheimer's disease ==> Thookam pochu pongo! Unakku short term memory loss varahukku vazhi panren vaa...
7. She'll become a Crorepathi ==> Endha Jenmathula? ;) [Let's enroll for 'Kaun Banega Crorepathi?' 'Who wants to be a millionaire?' 'Dus Ka dum' and 'Kodeeswari', if at all these shows exist now. If not, let's buy a lottery or atleast let's act in a movie. When Sam Anderson can do, why can't I? For SA lovers, here's a bonus: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F40kxDMJdbI]
8. Ivan vera jaadhila dhaan ponnu eduppan ==> Ser..u..pp..a edupom naanga!
9. Unga familyla nimmadhiye irukadhu ==> Idhellam kaetadhukkapuram irukkuma enna?
10. I will leave it to you guys to fill the 10th...:)

Oh..o...

I went there. He stared at me and asked that question. I smiled and came back.
After few hours, I was on my way to the restroom and saw her. She asked that question. I smiled and came back.
Came home for lunch. Went to a friend's house who was about to pick me up and his wife asked that question. I smiled and got into the car.
I was in a serious discussion and someone standing near me asked that question. I smiled again.
I was returning home from work. My friend asked that question. This time I was giggling and asking 'What's wrong? Why is everyone asking me that question?'

Question: Is this your new hairstyle?
Smiles and giggles because people said it's cute :)

It sways forth and back when I walk everytime - That's my pony tail! i.e. Kudhirai Vaalu ;)

Jai ho!!!

It starts and ends with 'The 3 Musketeers' - I am talking about the hands full of award winning director Danny Boyle's latest movie 'The Slumdog Millionaire'. Watched it on a Friday night as usual. I am not going to brag about it like the best direction, best screenplay, best original musical score etc., Neither did any of these technicalities enticed me but one person in the movie did. That's the cute little kid who played as Jamal Malik. Starting his days in the slums, playing with the neighbouring kids, sinking into the pool of 'poo' and getting out with that stinking smell, running towards Amitabh Bacchan's flight to get an Autograph yelling 'Amitabh Ji, Autograph'. This kid stole a main place from the entire crew, according to me. The puppy love that he has for Latika and searching for her after he grows up serves as an example for others to follow :) Hanging out from the top of the train and stealing a roti from a Punjabi family through the windows, this kiddo does it all without any flaw. The Surdas song 'Do Ghanshyam' rendering and guiding the tourists at the TajMahal saying that it's a 5 star hotel built for Noorjahan and the cooked up story that she died due to a road accident - The kid does it with so much confidence which amazed me. So, I give it all to this kid - a 4 star rating. Jai Ho!!!

LOA :)

Loss of Apetite, as I know, had always been a symptom of most of the diseases. But to me, it is a symptom when I am in a state of utmost happiness or sadness. And I had one recently, that is, yesterday.

Opening the refrigerator and standing there for 12 mins without knowing what should I cook or eat and ultimately giving up was the effect #1. Effect# 2 was taking bread, frozen parathas, idli mix, sooji and spreading it on the kitchen slab and looking at it 'Which one can I eat now?' and packing back those returning it to their respective places without doing anything with them. Effect# 3 was drinking a cup of water and going to bed.

These symptoms stay for only one day and I am in a full swing to normalcy. Will compensate by eating more today :)

Had anyone felt like this at any circumstance? ;)

High'lite'

New year has been offering me things and experiences that are new :)
1. Dining experience in the new dining table that looks so simple and cute :)
2. Holy day @ church
3. Watched the nervous 'ticket' gaining experience of a friend
4. Took an arathi (done only once before for cousin's marriage) for a new born kid and raised the symbol of victory in his forehead
5. Made a new dish in exactly 4 mins which ended up very tasty
6. Spending in a pooja room for 10 mins on a normal day (never crossed 2 mins)

Wat's happening to me? The list may not look great or exciting or different in any way, but it's so and so for me.

Looking forward for this year to bring new and enriching experiences...Belated Pongal wishes to all! Heard that Tamil New Year has been changed from Apr 14th to Jan 14th. Who cares? I will still celebrate in my own way on Apr 14th. Wat say?

5 stars & fantasies...

Heard from friends that they have had fantasies of dancing with Asin, walking with Aishwarya Rai, smiling with Surya, bowling to Sachin, cooking with 'Paravai' Muniyamma, sailing with Baywatch beauties along the shores of Miami beach, meeting Madhavan et al...But I have had fantasies about a Musical home. Does it sound weird? Home full of musical instruments like Guitar, Piano, Veena, Flute, Thabla, Saxophone, Drums, Clarinet, Violin. Tats all comes to my mind now. When someone knocks the door, there should be music. When the door opens, there should be music. Music for pooja room - A divine sound with a blend of veena and flute tunes. Music for bedroom - A romantic melody that soothes ears :) Music for hall - I don't need it because that's where my TV is. Music for bathroom - A fast beat song with drums that makes me not to come out of it :) Music for kitchen - A Saxophone or from a Ghazal of Hariharan's voice. Music for dining room - Not much of sangadhis, swarams but the one that feeds a light feel to heart and stomach :) Music for the entertainment room - That makes me dance. I would love to live with music.

And here's a musical feast which I loved it to the core. Flute for its divinity, Veena for its soothing sensation, Ghadam for its thalam and piano for the mild touch on its brim. It was a great improvisation and I was delighted to watch these 5 stars performing here:

The 'holy' experience

For the first in my lifetime, I went to see the church mass. Went with a friend's family and it was a good experience. As I always love to do things 'new' and 'different', this excited me, to see and answer my hows, whys and whats?. My technical terms may not be correct here but I will write whatever I captured.
1. It started with a small gospel song. I loved seeing the flute and piano live :)
2. Two small kids and their family came up with the Christ's cross and the candles
3. New faces introduction for which I should have stood up
4. Personal Greetings - I liked this part to say 'Good Morning' and 'Pleased to be with you' to those unknown faces and those around shaking their hands and a smile
5. Read few verses and sang along with them - It was about Baptism and the holy water
6. Feeding bread and wine session - I sat and watched

There is no particular reason for me going to a church other than to quench my curiousity on what they do. That was a holy experience.

Double Bonanza...

Ended up yesterday by watching the joyous moment, for being a music lover and ARR fan - Yeah, I watched ARR bagging awards in the critics choice and the Golden Globe. Few observations on that front...
1. In both ceremonies, whoever pronounced his name called him by A.R.Raman and not as A.R.Rahman. I guess they thought 'h' was silent :) but we, Indians could make out the difference it makes
2. Anil Kapoor stood up and cheered Danny Boyle for winning the Best director award for 'The Slumdog Millionaire'. But could not see him when A.R.R bagged - Guess the camera was out of focus
3. Dev Patel and Frieda Pinto was joyous as how I was (jumping and clapping) when the Isai Puyal said 'This is for India' showing his trophy
4. Last but not the least, I couldn't believe how a man of so much fame come into the stage and talk with composure. He said 'It's surprising!...' and 'Unbelieveble' and to me, it's so, to see him being 'down to earth' :)

And now, I am waiting for the Oscars...I meant 'to watch' :)

M(V)acchan, Mix 'n' Match

The post title is from a latest song of the film 'Silambattam' and that's from the voice of Maestro. As before, I do not watch dance shows like UYAPrabhudeva, Jodi #1, Ma..Mayilada and the rest..nowadays. But I got this video from one of my friends and I wanted to post a blog about it. After I watched the dance video, I did watch the original video song from the film. IMHO, the song's visual clipping with a blend of Simbu's lip movements to the song and Maestro's voice did not jinx well. A good song to listen, though :) Coming to the dance show video, the significant point to be noted is the free flow of the dance...It was awesome. The girl in particular, had the most flexible movements in the whole dance. There was no full stop...It was a continuous flow is what I felt. And the neck twisting on sides first and then falling down and getting up on the other side by the girl - It's not easy without practise...The dance bit by another guy in between - I felt it was not necessary and it did not have 'the worth watching' tag either. If I had to give a positive word of mouth about this dance on the show, it would be only an applause to Sai Pallavi, the girl who danced with so much flexibility.

And now for the mix n match part:
I did not know how to do this but suddenly an idea striked my mind and I mixed this song's audio and the video from one of the 90's movie song (the so called slow motion song) - Malliga mottu manasa thottu. I thought that it was well synched when I muted the video song Malliga Mottu(Sakthivel) and played the song with the verses from Vacchan (Silambattam), I ended up with laughs. If I knew the technique of mixing the audio/video stream, I would have posted the video here :(

Sense & Sensibility

There are few people who are at the height of fame but simple and down to earth like ARR, Surya, Chinnakuyil Chitra. Yet, there are few others who think they are at the peak of fame but not even reached its edge. And they pose and talk that they have done a great job, a self praise though - like Simbu and his dad TR :)

I happen to watch the Airtel Super Singer where the legendary singer Chitra sang with all the contestants. Not necessarily to say that she was awesome in her songs but one thing impressed me was her simplicity. She patted every contestant and told that few of them sang better than her. Who in this world will give a credit like this to a novice? ;) And I watched Surya few days back in Jodi# 1 final show where he saw those dancing contestants and said that he has to learn from them. Although you reach the peak of fame, standing at your feet and admitting things is not easy for everyone. That's why we admire people like him whereas we dont care about TR or his son except watching videos in Youtube to mock them as a timepass.

And here's ARR's interview to Forbes which leaves a mark 'Wat a sensible talk?'. Read it here:

3:1

Poo - Started with this on a Friday night. No, I am wrong! I started with 'Abhiyum Naanum' and after watching the first part, I felt it was very slow and dragging and did not have an interest to continue. So flipped to Sasi's 'Poo'. IMHO, the +ve factor of the movie is the cast inspite of not having the experienced and popular faces. The new faced heroine Paarvathi is flawless in her acting which is impressive. The acting and role of each cast in the movie seems so realistic. The one thing that irritated me was Maari's (Parvathi) It's 'Thangarasu', That's Thangarasu and all about Thangarasu (Srikanth) sentences but no quips about it since that's what the story is based about. The movie in certain aspects reminded me of Azhagi and Kaadhal. I have a reason for it - The song during their childhood days with other kids around which is similar to that groundnut song 'Chutthi Chutthi...' from Azhagi :) and the cast that suits to the movie which is similar to Kaadhal :) My rating shows 3 stars.

The Bucket List - Wat a movie? Simply amazing! The thoughtful idea....I loved it! Two men on death bed knowing that they may not live after 6 months goes on a mission to freak out with their wish list called 'The Bucket list'. The way that Morgan Freeman sounds in the message that he gives at the beginning of the movie - I always thought it is influential. Is it not? It has a meaning. Sitting on the edge of the Pyramids, Skydiving, Riding on a bike in Great Wall of China, Driving a Mustang and hitting every rod in the roads and the list goes on and on...But one thing on the list is kinda moving - 'Laugh until you cry' and when Morgan F strikes that off after he does it. People say this movie was a flop but I liked it. My rating shows 4 stars.

Outsourced - Mr. Todd whom people in India call as 'Toad' and he stands correcting them everytime is a good one. A call center whose building is left unconstructed and a cow stays before it, the water pours in because of poor irrigation - Tats India! The hospitality shown by the Salavaikaran (Don't read it a Saliva, it's washman) to Todd - Tat's India! And the so called heroine says about her one day with Todd as 'Holiday in Goa'...which made me think - Is that India? ;) Not so great movie but a good timepass entertainer. My rating shows 2.5 stars.
