Bathroom Singer Contest

Ha..ha...Don't get dissuaded by the title here. There is no such contest happening anywhere. I was talking to my roomie yesterday about an idea that I have for having such a contest and how it will raise TRPs amidst the soap operas played in satellite TVs. Being a bathroom and in-house singer(?), no wonder that I came up with this idea. The core idea of the contest would be this:

1. Contestants fill an application and send it to the respective personnel [No details about how do you sing and all that...Restricted to demographic data]
2. Contestants are those who have an iota of knowledge about carnatic, hindustani, western or any form of music but all they have is 'Kelvi Gnanam' of filmy music/songs
3. No contestant should have participated in any such contest before
4. Contestants are shortlisted based on their age-group
5. Contestants who participate in the show are given a covered set [like a bathroom or in-house...hmmm...not exactly :)] where-in they can sing and the judges are not allowed to see them but only can hear them sing
6. Jury panel is not given the details of the contestants except contestant A, B etc., and they enter their marks for A, B according to what they heard them singing inside the covered zone [To avoid the judges' 'favoritism']
7. After this prolongs for so many episodes, three winners from each category (age group) are chosen
8. The winners are not given a cash prize or any luxurious items as the prize/award
9. The winning prize is that the jury panel will train these winners and give/get them a chance in a movie to sing songs

How does this sound? There may be more logical things to look upon to make it work but this is my core idea. Ideas can be shaped..Isn't it? :) Who knows? There may be some Harish Raghavendras, Shreya Ghosals, Krishss, Haricharans, Sadhana Sargams, Madhusris emerge from this...

Anyone to take this up to next level? Lemme talk to Subashree Thanickachalam...hee...hee...Jus kiddin'!

10vatharam

There are umpteen reviews about this movie on the web. So, I am not going to write one here but I am going to write 5 things that I liked in the movie or I can say the 5 things that I enjoyed watching.

1. Oho Sanam song - I did not like this song till I watched the visual. I enjoyed the whole song and played it back lot of times after coming home. I liked the voice that Kamal has used to pitch in 'kaatrai thirakkum saavi' and 'Udal boomikke pogattum'
2. Visual effects - Amazing!
3. Asin in a very simple costume in the climax
4. Napolean & his masjesty as the Chola king
5. Chaos theory - It could have been explained well, but I liked the concept that Kamal tried to convey

B.R.E.A.K...

After being here for almost 9 months, am glad that I got a chance to visit a very beautiful place here y'day. It's called Pikes Peak. We were a group of four and we started to PP in the morning. When we went to get the entrance fee, the lady over there looked inside the car and asked 'how old is this kid' pointing to my roomie. And one of the guy's said '16!' (Actuals 16+9) She is very small and looks young! When this happened, I remember another incident where me and my roomie went to Wal-mart in a cab few weeks ago. The cab driver asked me 'How old is your kid' pointing to my roomie...Gr.....r...C'mon..She'z my friend..not my kid. I thought to myself...Ada paavingala, am I looking so old? Maybe, I am! :(( Got to get introduced to the make-ups and all facial therapies, I guess :) After sometime, I convinced myself saying that it's not that I am old and probably she looks too young. OK..coming back to the Pikes Peak trip...We reached Pikes Peak which is of 14,100 feet in elevation. It was tooooooooo beautiful to look at the clouds which seem to be very closer to us, the rocks, the greeneries, the plush vegetation and the entire city from the elevation...Wow!!! We took few snaps there and also in the reservoir down...During our drive, we were discussing about one of our friend's directorial debut and how he can shoot at this place introducing the triple heroes and heroine falling in love with the hero in Pikes Peak :)) Also, we had interesting discussions on music and the lyrics of all the songs that were played. It was too interesting for me to talk about these since I have a great affinity towards music and I kept talking about it continuously till we reached home. Overall, it was a fantastic break from the home-office routine! And here is some delight for you - few scenic snaps :)

Inside Out!

Call this as Inside Out - IO or IAP - Ikkaraikki Akkarai Pachai! :) - A Fact file vs Philosophy vs Dream
Jus keep reading....

Part 1:
1. Being alone
2. If you call friends, they neither answer your call nor call you back
3. You have work--> home routine 5 days a week
4. Weekends - You spend with internet, internet and internet...
5. Long weekends - The most fantastic part of life - You become mad on yourself!
6. The most eventful days in life - You fall sick. You go to emergency room or urgent care yourself. You call your close ones (close here doesn't mean the proximity w.r.t miles) for emotional support and they say they can't afford to take care of you and some angel comes and helps you. Should be happy that an angel showed up! :)
7. You know only walmart and Indian stores around bcoz you have to go there often, atleast by cab
8. You earn in dollars to send money to family every month - Collar-a thooki vitukalam!
9. You enjoy singing alone, dancing alone among the rare potlucks that happens in your place
10. No pollution, No office politics, No nose poking events, No traffic
11. Overall, you are so independent, so matured

Part 2:
1. Always surrounded by people - No privacy for yourself
2. You want to study but friends always surrounds you and you always end up in hanging out with them
3. Work --> home routine happens 6 days (sometimes 7 days) a week
4. Weekends - Office, Friends, Shopping, Eating
5. Long Weekends - Visit to home
6. Most eventful days in life - When you fall sick, you are overwhelmed by the love people show around you. You never needed an emotional support there though...
7. You know almost every place there although you don't go often
8. You earn in rupees to send money to family once in 3/6/9/12 months
9. You enjoy singing, dancing in groups
10. Pollution, Office Politics, Nose poking events, traffic - Part of your everyday life here
11. Overall, you are so happy, so lovable

To have the 4/11's from the first part, are you supposed to leave the 7/11 in second part? It depends on which is more important in life and how you perceive life. Being matured is sometimes not good :)

Although thoughts like this, flow often...you keep going in life everyday thinking 'Today would be my day! and I will get few of the good things in life that I wanted' and most of the times it doesn't work the way you think. But, again it depends on how you see it. Ahem....Enuf of all this...Gotta take a break!

Someone knocks the door! A woman here...
KW (Knocked woman): Hello, I heard you!
Me: Wat?
KW: You did not perceive life as it is now?
Me: Yes, how do you know?
KW: I heard you!
Me: So, what are you going to do? Giving me a free ride to wal-mart?
KW: No, to the place that you want to go
Me: I have lots of places to go...maybe Paris this time :)
KW: Here's one gift that you would like (She handed me a Yamaha keyboard)
Me: No, thanks
KW: Ok..Take this one (She gave a bunch of keys which is of a new Eclipse car)
Me: No, thanks
KW: Here is a group of people whom you would love to spend time with
Me: (Seeing through the window) OMG, lovely kids! Thanks!!!
KW: Enjoy with what you have in life...Life would be more blissful than you think
Me: Sure...
KW waving hands and am approaching the kidz...
With those kids faces in my mind, I woke up from my dream...Huh, Wat was that crap that came into my mind other than those kids? Had to get ready to work-out! Bye, bye dreamzzzzzzzz...........

'Go, Kiss the world'

Subrato Bagchi, the COO of MindTree Consulting in India has released his latest book 'Go,kiss the world'.While I was grazing over the news lines today and checking for this book, stumbled upon the link for the speech that he gave 4 years back @ IIM. Simple thoughts, realistic life's happenings and the principles that he has inculcated from his life, is worth reading and following!

Those I liked:
"I have to create a bloom in a desert and whenever I am given a new place, I must leave it more beautiful than what I had inherited".

"You should leave your newspaper and your toilet, the way you expect to find it".

Imagination is everything. If we can imagine a future, we can create it, if we can create that future, others will live in it. That is the essence of success.

Success is about the sense of independence. Success is your ability to rise above your discomfort, whatever may be your current state. It is about giving back more to life than you take out of it. It is about creating extra-ordinary success with ordinary lives.

This week!

Booked tickets for 'Dasavatharam' movie show @ COS to watch it next Sunday. Got to read rave reviews of the movie but still want to watch it atleast to pass time with friends :) Heard the movie songs but none of them impressed me much.

Happened to read the review of the book called 'Dear popple'. Looks like I will love reading it but I feel that it may leave a trail of emotive characters. Checked the prize @ Amazon and thought I would leave it for now bcoz I have to complete reading other books that I have got from India recently. Got Google Story, Icon, Good to Great to read but done with Chetan Bhagat's latest novel 'Three mistakes of my life' - A novel about friends, business, cricket and religion.

After 5 years, got a chance to talk to my college roommate who has got married recently and residing at NJ. We were talking about how I used to tell her the important questions to read for exams and she cracks it and praises me for it; how she keeps the pillows on me to dust out her mattress while I don't realise it being in a sleepy state :) And the snack time that we used to have every Monday after returning from a weekend trip from home...Those old golden dayz of life...Can I get it back? :)

Celebrated roommate's b'day with a delicious Black forest cake. The rarest thing was that I was awake @ 12 to wish her...She herself looked surprised @ this, since she has not seen me awake after 11 :) Early to bed, early to rise being my policy - Palahi pochu:))

Watched 'I,Robot' that I got from Netflix and it is an usual sci-fi movie. Being a fan of Will Smith's acting, I was moved when he cried for being helpless in saving the 11 year child drowning in water.

Read 'Life to choose' from greatday and 'Reason for marrying' from Frozen thoughts. Thinking of registering for FT...should have done while I was in India...Better late than never!!!

Did not get into the top list for BTG scholarship :((

After a very long time, heard my favourite song 'Orae manam' from the movie Villan.

And now, I'm blogging :)) Going to cook after this but yet to decide what to cook??????????? Grr...

Have a good weekend!

My DBG and New Laptop

Got a new laptop and the main thing that enticed me is the display and the sound quality. These two are the most important factors for me to use a laptop and I guess I succeeded in it! :) And, here is my new desktop background for June. A simple picture with a color that I love most...

India trip, no laptop - These two things made me to stay away from the blogging area. After a hiatus, am back to blogging now...

Few years ago, one of my friends gifted me a cassette full of songs that was sung by Harish Raghavendra. I was a great fan of HR and still is...It's been long time since I saw him on the media or any TV shows but happened to watch Star Singer in RAJ TV last week. It just reminded me of the corporate cultural show where I saw him performing live. I was known as a calm girl in my corporate training batch but things went ulta when I heard the anchor of the show uttering HR's name as the singer for the day. I was screaming when I saw him on stage and ran from the mid rows to the first row where I can hear his voice closely...;) And now, when I saw him singing few notes in Star Singer TV show, I was listening it with utmost interest. If someone asks me why I like his voice and feel very great about it, my answer would be 'It's because of the proper pronunciation, uniqueness, the feel and clarity in his voice'. I bet that noone can capture his spot in my favourite singers list...And here is my most favourite song of his:
