Morph...

Kambli came and did a Kuthu
Irfan came and stood shy
Nikhil came and acted
Bhajji came and did a Bhangra
Sreesanth came and did it casually
Dinesh came and rocked

I watched it yesterday. Seeing these cricketers in a different form is not so interesting. It started it in the first show itself where they had difference of opinion. Poor gals...They were so great in dancing and looked good; And it has become a fashion nowadays that people doing without any reluctance in front of a big crowd...Bhajji did to SSen yday; Sangeetha did to Sanjay in other show; Rakhi did to Salman in DKD; What was that? Newspapers claim it as a proposal...And I am like, Pls..grow up!

Friend1: We have Telugu/Kannada New Year which is called ‘Ugadi’

Friend2: We have Malayalam New Year which is called ‘Vishu’

Friends 1&2: We know your Tamil New Year falls this Sunday…What do u call it?

Me: We call it as Tamil New Year in Tamil…(Enna chamarthana answer ;))

Friend1: No, is there a name like Vishu or Ugadi?

Me: No it’s called Tamil Varuda Pirappu which is the translation of Tamil New Year…We don’t have a specific name…

Friends 1&2: Calling another friend who is a Tamilian…What do you call Tamil New Year as?

Me: (To myself) Freeya vidungalen..yaaru sonnalum..Answer onnu dhaan..and escaped from that place…

Last Tamil New Year, I made payasam and went to Pittsburg temple to get Dharshan of Mr.Balaji

This time, although am not going to any temple to get anyone's Dharshan, I started the day by playing the devotional trio songs that I have it in my PC – Kandha Shasti Kavasam, Subrapatham and the Amman song…

Done with the house cleaning y’day itself as it’s an usual ‘Saturday’ thing for me :)

Ready to prepare some aval sweet and paruppu sundal and the spl. Lunch comprising Sambar, Avial, Okra pachadi (Build-up nalla dhaan irukku but hope it comes out well)…

Appuram enna? Worshipping God, Eating and Burping dhaan…:)

Thiruvizha Kozham...

Me and my roomie were talking about childhood days and how we used to celebrate Diwali when we were kids. When we were at school, we used to talk about the new Diwali dress even months before Diwali celebration. And I used to dream about wearing my new Diwali dress even before I buy it. Although I was not a 'cracker' girl (gal who used to fire crackers :)) but I was a 'sweet' gal - On Diwali, my main task would be giving away sweets to neighbours (Cycle gapla apdiye enna naane sweetnu solliten :)) Even now, I could remember those Diwali dresses - The 'Pudhiya Mugam' midi (the one like Revathy used to wear in that movie), The 'Rangeela' dress (Sometime I used to call it as Suspendas but I don't know who introduced me this term ;)), The cute violetish grayish 'Pattu Pavadai', The green chudi that has mirror work etc., On the day of Diwali, you feel like you are an angel jumped out from heaven and when someone says 'You look good in this dress', then you would see your face in the mirror often and say to yourself 'Hmm..I'm looking great!'. I am sure it happened to most of us. The day after Diwali would be fun at school with sweets distribution wherein my favourites used to be Boondhi and murukku...:) and sighting at others dresses and commenting even teachers :)

As days pass by, there is no more Diwali like before. It's just another day. Not looking forward for new dress, crackers, neighbours, sweet distribution but just wishes and prayers from friends and family...We just live with it! Is it not true?

P.S.: It's not Diwali time but the conversation about it made me to write a blog post.
